VDL AEC Maritime secures order for scrubber systems in Greece

18 November 2019

VDL AEC Maritime in Eindhoven has received a significant order for the delivery of seven scrubber systems from Greece based ship management company, Thenamaris. With this order VDL AEC Maritime firmly strengthens its market position in Greece. These scrubber systems will be delivered before the end of March 2020.

IMO 2020

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has ruled that as from January 1st, 2020 emissions in international waters needs to be greatly reduced. The marine sector will have to reduce Sulphur emissions by over 80% by either switching to lower Sulphur fuels or using exhaust gas scrubber systems. The current maximum fuel oil Sulphur limit of 3.5% will be decreased to 0.5%.

Joost Wijdeveld, Sales Director of VDL AEC Maritime: “This deal is very important for us. We are very excited with our new customer Thenamaris Ships Management Inc. and we are looking forward to a great cooperation. The Greek customers now form a large part of our portfolio. For us this is another milestone, next to our deals in Southeast Asia and other world regions. Due to further optimization of our complete supply chain we were able to further increase our production capacity. On the short term this results in additional available production spots for early 2020.”
